Product Care
Our name badges, keyrings, badge reels and cake toppers are made by hand in our Sydney workshop from PLA – a plant-based, biodegradable bioplastic that's lightweight, durable and lovely to wear every day. With a little care your piece will stay looking new for years. Here's how to look after it.
Keep it out of the heat
PLA is the one material that doesn't like heat. It can soften or warp at temperatures above about 55°C, so please:
- Don't leave your badge, keyring or lanyard in a hot car or on a car dashboard.
- Keep it out of direct sunlight for long periods (e.g. a sunny windowsill).
- Never put it in the dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, oven or microwave.
Cleaning
- Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and a little mild soap if needed, then pat dry.
- A quick rinse under cool water is fine – just don't soak it or use hot water.
- Avoid alcohol wipes, acetone, bleach or abrasive cleaners, as these can dull the colour.
Everyday wear
- PLA is tough but not unbreakable – try not to drop it on hard floors or bend it.
- Take your badge off before sport, swimming or showering.
- Store it flat in a cool, dry place when you're not wearing it.
Magnetic badges
- Our magnets are strong – keep them away from pacemakers and other medical devices, bank cards and phones.
- Not suitable for children under 3 (small parts).
- If your magnet ever comes loose, let us know and we'll sort it out.
Lanyards
- Fabric lanyards – spot clean or gentle hand wash in cold water, then air dry flat. Don't tumble dry or iron.
- Beaded lanyards – wipe the beads with a damp cloth. Avoid swinging or yanking the lanyard, and keep away from small children.
- Lanyards with a breakaway clasp are designed to pop open under force for safety – simply clip them back together.
Cake toppers
Cake toppers are decorative and not food-safe. Insert the stick into the cake just before serving, and remove it before cutting. Wipe clean and keep as a keepsake!
